Lost Lake Lodge's Gristmill Biscuits
3 lb Flour
4 oz Sugar
3 oz Baking Powder
3/4 oz Salt
1 lb Butter, cold
8 oz Eggs
3 cups Buttermilk
1. Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
2. Add the butter and rub together until the mixture has the
appearance of a coarse meal.
3. Combine the eggs and the buttermilk
4. Add the flour mixture, mixing to combine
5. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of
1 inch.
6. Cut out into a 2 in. biscuit
7. Place the biscuit on a parachment lined sheet pan and brush
lightly with an egg wash.
8. Bake at 425 degrees F until golden , about 15 minutes
Makes about 40 biscuits.
Note: The less you work the dough the flakier the biscuit
